DF16 Blade -
Space Superiority Fighter
The Blade was once
revered as the most deadly dogfighter in the galaxy.
Though many other manufacturers have implemented designs
to compete with the Blade, it is still held as the benchmark
for fighter excellence in starfighter design. A compact,
nimble fighter with a good balance of firepower, the
Blade excelled at every role it was designed for. Two
things held it back from perfection however. First was
its limited range, which made for an excellent carrier
borne escort and fighter screen, but a poor long-range
bomber escort or mission based fighter. Second was the
lack of adaptability for capital class weapons payloads
that held it back from bomber roles and capital strike
craft status. It is still hard to find its equal, however, in ship-to-ship combat.
