XK7 Grimbolt - Gunship
Magnarri Munitions
is a prominent Capital-class weapons system manufacturer.
The XK7 Grimbolt is the follow up to Magnarri's surprisingly
successful Grimlock weapon system. The Grimbolt addressed
all the major customer complaints with the Grimlock,
though some have been made worse for it. The Grimbolt
is more agile, packs more speed, and still delivers
a huge amount of firepower for ship of its size. But,
to maintain the hull strength famous in the Grimlock
while making it lighter and less taxing on the power
systems resulted in the hull being fused into one solid
contoured piece. This gave the hull remarkable resiliency,
but worsened the maintenance situation since there are
only 2 or 3 places the hull can be accessed. A system
of remote internal repair droids was created, which
has been loathed by most technicians and repair crews.
The hull's manufacturing process is a tightly held secret
and also very expensive.
Despite these problems, the Grimbolt is a deadly combat
starfighter, effective close range firepower support
ship, capital strike ship, and an adequate dogfighter.
Magnarri once again finds itself with more demand for
a product than their limited manufacturing resources
can accommodate.
