Z59 "Hellfolly"
- Space Superiority Fighter
Neoxenia Arms,
the leading competitor to Magnarri Munitions in the
field of weapon systems, in an attempt to maintain its
competitive edge designed this starfighter as an answer
to MM's Grimlock. Building on the idea of delivering
maximum firepower in a compact starfighter design, Neoxenia
(with subcontracts to Daetrexx Enterprises and Ptolaman
Triton Defense Systems) created the Z-59 and followed
MM into the starfighter market. Exploiting the weaknesses
in MM's design, the Z-59, from its inception, was designed
to be a highly maneuverable and fast starfighter, while
including a heavy weapon system with missile launchers.
This deadly combination of speed and heavy firepower
does not come without a price, however. The massive
energy output required to maintain this balance between
speed and firepower ruled out several energy-taxing
systems - including a hyperdrive and energy shields.
Its ability to give what it can't take earned it the
semi-official name "Hellfolly" among most
fighter jockeys. For an obnoxious amount of money some
black market fighter techs have found ways to install
minimal shielding onto hellfollys bringing with it another
peril due to a dangerously unbalanced fusion reactor
and frequent detonations and meltdowns.
